How to Generate Good SEO Keywords?

Introduction

Search Engine Optimized (SEO) topics (also known as keywords) are a very common thing in today’s world which a lot of websites and blogs utilize to generate web traffic. These topics are different from other topics in that they utilize special keywords which are usually used in search engines. Because of this, these topics grant a high chance for the website which hosts them to appear on the results page of one of these searches; thus, increasing the chances of the website gaining web traffic. It is for this reason why many websites focus on publishing SEO topics; however, there are some who struggle to feasibly accomplish this.

Most websites and businesses start off (or at least, they should start off) by doing a full assessment and breakdown of all their products and services. Through this, they can identify specific keywords and phrases which cater to their website’s business. From this, a website could define themes based on these keywords which would best fit their business. This means that if the website can find something niche that works for them, they can see even more benefits as they would be one of the few - if not only - website to appear in searches within that niche. This way, they can have a higher influx of web traffic and one could say, even have a monopoly of sorts. Some websites would then even dabble in having seasonal topics for Christmas and spring as well, building even further on this. Through this method, they ensure the websites and blogs are kept up to date and time with whatever the current buzz is.

Keyword Research

Keyword research is a good way to find what type of topics a website or blog should focus on for their SEO topics. By doing some research and your due diligence on keywords surrounding your website and business, you’re sure to have a better chance of ensuring you reach your target audience. This should enable you by using popular search topics within your niche based on your keywords to generate topics and as such, relevant content to your target audience.

To this end, some applications have been developed to help facilitate this, such as Adwords Keyword Planner. The application is known to list keywords specific to one’s business and in order of popularity as well. The Latent Semantic Indexing (LSI) Generator is another useful tool although; not similar to the Adwords Keyword Planner. The LSI Generator’s function instead is to link similar keywords semantically from a list; thus, broadening your overall pool of keywords to use for an SEO article or blog post.

Social Media

Paying attention to social media is a very useful method for generating proper SEO keywords and topics as well. Hashtags which are trending on social media are basically keywords that can be used within your SEO articles and thus, would come in handy for generating great SEO topics. As such, it is always a good idea to establish a social media identity of your website to not only help mine these keywords but to also bring your business into the fold and add to that list of keywords as well. This works amazingly well for Facebook and Twitter, which are two of the most popular social media platforms. LinkedIn will also work as well even though it is more catered to businesses and employers but the idea is to scour these social media platforms and conversations on them to help you find keywords for your SEO topic.

Forums and Media Sites

Building from social media, forum and media websites function in much the same way in today’s world as most websites are built with the idea of having an online community. One method with these mediums is to use Google alerts for topics relevant to your business and then review how these topics are being written to then deduce some specific way in which your business could tackle these topics. From here, this opens the door for you to become even more creative with your take on these topics by having your own article focus on fact-checking another claims or focusing on topics that are in public’s eye such as an analysis of a government incident or interview.
